Yesterday’s post was Colorado: A Telecom Hub. The Front Range has a rich tradition in telecom. And guess what–the telecom industry is doing quite well. And guess more–Colorado continues to be an important market for telecom. In this post, I will list companies who are active in telecommunications. Excluded from the list will be (a) companies with primarily a sales and/or local operations presence in Colorado, (b) equipment companies, (c) value added resellers, and (d) Rural LECs. I will focus on companies which are active in providing telecom and Internet infrastructure services using their own facilities.
I will need help from our readers, as I know this list is incomplete. Please make corrections or additions via comments or shoot me an email.

Two companies I did not notice on the list are:
FastTrack Communications, Inc. A CLEC with headquarters in Durango. They serve the SW and have Fiber to Grand Junction.
Bijou Telephone Cooperative Association Inc. A rural Telco in Eastern Colorado
Impressive list. I would submit that the 911 service providers headquartered in Colorado belong – Colorado dominates this space.
Intrado – >$50M (purchased by West Corp for $465M in ‘06)
Vixxi Solutions – <$50M – venture backed NG911 entrant (Trident Capital and Velocity Interactive Group)
Bryan,
intresting to see how the assets of Kelly Bloomer’s Tri-Corners Telecom has changed since 99, FIrst TCT and their LMDS push, then REANET a venture between GJ.net & the assets of TCT, and now Fasttrack and probably some more in between.
Dan,
I noticed a lot that are not on the list, most are rural ITC’s in the Mountains and Plains areas, which BTW are ILECs, which *may* have access to the $8B stimulus cash. I know some of these guys also have the tower backhaul business in their service area’s or are the cell, MSO provider ontop of the phone, INET, etc.
Bresnan Communications- Rural MSO operator in WY, UT, CO and MT, HQ’d in NY

Viaero Wireless-FT. Morgan CO……tower builder and cell provider to eastern CO and Nebraksa

Strasburg Telephone Company dba TDS Telecom
Ok, instead of cutting and pasting, just check out this link http://www.colotelecom.com/cta.html. I think you get the point.
So do I get a $1000K finders fee or what
Scott
Aircell’s business aviation division is HQ’d in Broomfield. Aircell supplies the in-flight internet services in use by American, Delta, etc.
Intercall has a significant Louisville operation with both voice and data infrastructure.
Another organization to add to your list of:
Headquarter in Colorado: <$50M in Annual Revenue, including Early Stage Companies
Dash Carrier Services based in Downtown Denver
Premiere Global Services has their operations center in Colorado Springs…I think you’re mistaken re: Intercall, I think they only have a sales presence in CO.
Great list. I would like to the “(b) equipment companies” manufacturers in CO too.
Two missing are New Global Telecom in Golden and Teliax in Denver. NGT was doing IP hosting at one point, and Teliax is a local SIP provider I use.
Dan,
Thanks for mentioning us in your list. I have often heard that the Denver telecom market is highly competitive, and it certainly seems that way. However I don’t really have a benchmark to compare to other markets. It would be extremely informative to have a “competition index” or similar, a survey of markets and players.
